Idaho is kind of a secret oasis for outdoorsy people. Most of the world thinks there’s nothing in Idaho but Potato fields. In reality, the majority of the state is covered in mountains, alpine lakes, hot springs and numerous other fun features.
We chose Pocatello, Idaho because we really love the outdoors. Pocatello makes a great base camp for adventure and has so much to offer an outdoor enthusiast. It’s surrounded by an endless supply of trails, world class climbing opportunities, awesome paddling and it’s just a short drive to some of the best parks and forests in the nation.
Right in town, there’s 143 climbing routes and 82 boulder problems (probably more then that by the time you read this)! As you travel out of town a little ways, there’s thousands more available at places like Massacre Rocks, City of Rocks, The Fins, etc.
Places like the Sawtooth Mountains, Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, The White Cloud Mountains and the Grand Tetons provide some of the most breathtaking backpacking destinations around and are just a short drive away.
If that’s not enough, Pocatello is only an hour away from the Utah border and all that our friends to the south has to offer!
